    Microsoft and HP are teaming up.

    Microsoft Live Search  isn't exactly the best search engine around.  In fact Microsoft comes in third after Google and Yahoo in the search engine market.  However, Microsoft is still number one in the OS department and most of the world depends on Microsoft Windows.  Furthermore, most of the world's PC's come with Microsoft Windows.

    This means that Microsoft already has a captured market where they could put in their products to increase their competitiveness, and Live Search really needs that boost.  Of course, Microsoft has Internet Explorer pre-installed on Windows and Live Search as the default page for the browser, however, the Firefox  still performs a lot better in the browser section which most people opt to use and Firefox's default search engine is Google....more

    HP has just acquired technology outsourcing firm EDS confirming that they wereplanning a merger.  Reasons as to why HP did purchase EDS are explained in the press release.  However, without the flowery words, it may be because HP is not doing well with their outsourcing branch, or HP is taking a huge step into the future.

    HP is known for printers and computers.  However, there is just so much they can get from that business so they too are into outsourcing, providing IT services to companies who can't afford or find it more efficient than doing it in-house.

    Some say that HP just wants to get even with  IBM.  Whichever the reason, HP's merger with EDS will surely give them a foothold in the outsourcing market against IBM and Accenture.
