And another legal alternative to iTunes. Rhapsody announced today their new service, "Music Without Limits." It basically emulates the model of iTunes, selling music at 99cents a pop and $9.99 an album. Oh, and did I already say? It's DRM-free!
According to the press release , Realnetworks, the company behind Rhapsody is making it easier for people to decide what to do with their music. DRM-free means customers can use the music anywhere. Well, isn't this just a week for breaking records? Yes it is.
Yesterday, Apple announced that their iTunes music store has hit the 5-billion-songs-sold mark since the day they started five years ago. According to AppleInsider , "The digital download service is the number one music retailer in the US, according to the most recent data from NPD Group's MusicWatch survey, and features the largest music catalog with over eight million songs."

It's official. There were rumors that HBO and Apple would come up with a partnership sometime and now that time is here.
In a nutshell, HBO will sell “The Sopranos,” “Sex and the City,” “Deadwood” and “Rome,” “Flight of the Conchords” and “The Wire,” among others, on the iTunes store. All 94 episodes of “Sex in the City” will be available (a mere $187 for the whole run!) at $1.99 each while more popular shows like the “Sopranos” and “Deadwood” will cost $2.99. [TechCrunch]

Apple has gone into contract with NewsCorp's Fox. The contract stipulates that FoxDVD releases will be available to rent on iTunes.
Currently, only Walt Disney is selling their new movie releases on the popular Apple platform iTunes. Other hollywood studios, MGM, Paramount and LionsGate are only selling older titles on iTunes.

20th Century Fox , a direct competitor of NBC Universal , has struck a deal with Apple. The Fox-Apple team up will be offering some of Fox's TV shows for free on iTunes.
